Visiting B.J., Jenn and Jack in Portland, Oregon

Portland is called the City of Roses for a reason…it has the most beautiful roses in the world.

We visited the International Rose Test Garden even though we had been there before…it was beautiful.

The first Portland Rose Festival was held in 1907, and remains the city’s major annual festival more than a century later.  In 1917, the International Rose Test Garden was established, and it now features more than 7,000 rose plants of 550 varieties. It is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States.

Another place that has become one of our favorite stops in Portland is Salt and Straw Ice Cream Parlor…which was named one of the top five ice creams by Food Network.

We also enjoyed the restaurant La Provence French Restaurant in Beaverton, Oregon.

While we were there Jenn was busy getting a large order of her Treasure Buddies ready for the store Made In Oregon.

My daughter-in-law has started a small company that has really taken off!  She has created these adorable pillow animals…but the unique thing about them is they have a hidden zipper pouch in the bottom where kids can hid their special “treasures”.  They are adorable and she can hardly keep up with orders (she does custom ones too).  She got the idea from her grandmother who used to make animal pillows to sell for extra income (she lived in the Philippines at the times).  You can see them here.  You can also see them on Etsy here.
