For about the last 15-20 years I have helped decorate the Christmas trees at the LDS, Latter-day Saint (Mormon) Visitor’s in Independence,
Missouri with my dear friend Susan Allred.
And we also decorate the smaller tree downstairs in the “historical” part of the center…so it is a “pioneer” theme tree.

It was printed on 11 x 17 inch paper. And then folded like a map for the program.
The invitation was a “passport” with a “boarding pass”:
The “boarding pass”
Outside of envelope:
Pages of the passport invite to download (look in your download folder): files are in .doc (Microsoft word) format, so changes can be made using Microsoft word. The page entitled Passport invite cover .doc is the cover-outside. The page entitled Passport Passport invite inside cover is the inside (printed on card stock). I printed one page for the front and turned paper over and re-printed on same sheet of paper for the back of cover. passport invite 2.doc are the inside pages (again front and back turned and reprinted on same sheet of paper). writing .doc was reprinted on the inside page. Pages were trimmed, inside inserted inside the cover, folded and stapled. (Hope that makes sense). Also the BOARDING PASS (also in .doc format). (It was folded and inserted inside the “passport”.) Adjustments might need to be made depending on your printer. I used a corner rounder punch since real passports have rounded corners. Included are the envelop labels I used on the envelopes.

Young Women in Excellence 2013

The theme for our Young Women in Excellence this year is , “It’s a Jungle Out There!”
It came to us after listening to the stories of what our Young Women deal with on a daily basis…especially at their schools etc.
Big palm trees were fashioned from the inner cardboard tube of carpet rolls. We crinkled wide strips of kraft paper and hot glued it on the tube for the palm tree trunk. The leaves were constructed from wire hot glued down the center of cut out crepe paper leaves. Extra wire was left on one end and bent and stuck in the top of the tube. Stands were made from pressed board with 1 x 4’s cut and screwed on. The 1 x4’s were cut into sections 2 feet long. One end of the 1 x4 was cut on an angle to allow the trees to stand at angles.
Each girl picked a scripture to represent her. Each girl also made a display including a presentation board that reflected her accomplishments and her personality.
Smaller palm trees were made from mailing tubes with the crinkled brown kraft paper glued on it with palm leaves stuck on top. The tubes were put in gravel in a cup and brown kraft paper over the cup.
And jungle animals were drawn
