Parade! Floats! Horses! Bands! 24th of July!!!

August 2, 2011 by shelley

And one more float....

Another beautiful float in the parade.

Rider on two horses.

Another beautiful float in the parade.

There were many beautiful floats in the parade.  Most were made by one of the Utah Stakes.  I was amazed at the complexity of the floats and began to wonder if “float builder” was a church calling in the SLC Stakes????

One of the many beautiful floats in the 24th parade.

Becca and Henry send their love to President Monson…and it is returned!

August 2, 2011 by shelley

As Becca and Henry waved at President Monson he made a fist and touched his chest over his heart and then pointed and waved to them.  They responded by throwing kisses to him.  It was a beautiful moment.

President Monson

Pioneer Day weekend in Salt Lake City

August 1, 2011 by shelley

We decided to celebrate Pioneer Day in Utah with Jen, Adam, and the kids. We were fortunate enough to get tickets for the Pioneer Program at the Conference Center.

Kansas City Missouri Temple

May 31, 2011 by shelley

Bob and I decided to use this Memorial Day to take a ride (it only took 25 minutes) and take a look at the progress of construction of the new Kansas City Missouri Temple. As you can see it is progressing nicely! And it is so big! It is an impressive site as one drives by on route #435.

Women’s Conference BYU April 2011

May 26, 2011 by shelley

Provo Utah

Linda Esplin and Ellen Riley

Two years in a row, we did it!! We’ve been friends for 30 years, and we decided to make Women’s Conference each spring a must do so we can get caught up and enjoy our friendship to the fullest. Not easy since Ellen is in Massachusetts, Linda in Arizona and I am in Kansas but we did it for the second time in two years. It is like we have never been separated and pick up right where we left off. True friendship spans time and distance, and definitely worth the effort to meet at BYU’s Women’s Conference.
