Provo City Center Temple

Provo City Center Temple

I had to stop and take pictures of the Provo City Center Temple since it is now completed and a working LDS Temple.  It has a rich history going back to pioneer time.  I have watched this temple rise from the ashes and took pictures of it as it was being constructed.  See the post after the fire and then again as it was being built.

Temple Square and the beautiful springtime tulips!!! Glorious!!!

June 20, 2013 by shelley

The Salt Lake Temple is surrounded by spring blooms.

The Salt Lake Temple is surrounded by spring blooms.

Temple Square in the springtime! No words can describe the beauty of temple square and it’s glorious landscaping and colorful flowers.  But it took my breath away with all the blooming flowers; tulips, daffodils, and crocus’.  I was absolutely mesmerized by some of the tulips and daffodils…they had 5-6 blooms on one stem.  Each stem was like a bouquet of tulips or daffodils…gorgeous!!!  Say no more a picture is worth  a thousand words…

Springtime glory blooms around the Salt Lake City Temple!

We also visited the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, near the Salt Lake temple.

Kansas City Missouri Temple to be dedicated May 6th, 2012

January 21, 2012 by shelley

The Kansas City Missouri Temple will be dedicated May 6, 2012!  This is the first LDS Temple to be completed in the area.   The history of the LDS church in the area is quite a story.  In the 1830’s there were the “Mormon Wars”.  The early LDS were first driven out of Independence, Missouri (1832)  under harsh conditions and then later from Far West in Caldwell County Missouri during the winter of 1838-39 under extremely terrible conditions.  The Prophet Joseph Smith was imprisoned in jail in Liberty, Missouri not far from the new temple site.  Two temples were announced in the early days of the church; one in Independence, Missouri and one in Far West, Missouri (pictures of current Far West, Missouri).  They were never built.  The Kansas City Star newspaper has an article today about the dedication of the new temple.
