Decorations and Refreshments for Vintage Fashion Show Young Women Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

June 19, 2013 by shelley

The Young Women’s Vintage Fashion Show was decorated, “Something Old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”  We had several vintage wedding dresses in the show and used shades of blues as our color.  Vintage patterns were framed and hung with mason jars of baby breath.  Life-size sketch of women wearing clothes from the decades of  1910, 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950 and 1960 Life-size sketches were traced by projecting from a computer.  The refreshment table was accented in blue.

Young Women’s Vintage Fashion Show Activity

June 18, 2013 by shelley

The Mia Maids wanted to do a combined Young Women’s activity that would emphasize what they learned in “For the Strength of Youth” booklet particularly modesty.  They thought it would be fun to do a “vintage fashion show” featuring dresses from different eras, and also showing how all dresses, whenever, from any era can be modest.  The planning began.  One week at Mutual the young women made cookies for the refreshments.  Another week decorations were made and large, life-like sketches of dresses from different decades were made.  One week was a dress rehearsal.  Many hours of planning and preparation were put into the Young Women’s Vintage Show.  It was decided that it should not only be a Young Women’s activity, but a Ward Activity so the Ward was invited.  The red carpet was put down, music from each decade was recorded, a script was written and the show was on!!
