New Baby sister for Becca And Henry

September 28, 2012 by shelley

September 19th, a beautiful fall day in North Carolina, I welcomed a new little granddaughter it was one day after Henry’s birthday. Becca had repeatedly told her mom her baby sister would be born on this day, the day after grandma got into town. When asked how she knew it would be on this day, little Becca said “I talked to her”. She never wavered and at 8:00 p.m. she asked where was her baby sister? When her mom told her she didn’t think it would happen, Becca was still insisting she was coming on this day. And sure enough at 11:13 Caroline Mae Long made her appearance.

Building at Lowes! Fun Times with Jen, Becca and Henry!!

June 6, 2012 by shelley

Jennifer came to visit for the week along with Becca, Henry and Izzy. One of the first fun activities on our schedule was an activity at Lowe’s Hardware Store. This is a must do for anyone with small children. Lowes sponsors “Build and Grow” clinics in which children have the opportunity to build, with real hammers and nails, cute fun projects. The workshops are free, but you do need to pre-register. They are taught in store and the projects are adorable. It is an incredible activity for kids. Big thanks to Lowe’s Hardware Stores! Check their website to see when the next project is going to happen!

December 17 And It Is Time To Visit the Fairy Princess

January 7, 2012 by shelley

One week until Christmas and it was time to visit the Fairy Princess. A visit to the Fairy Princess right before Christmas is a long standing tradition in Kansas City. The Fairy Princess first appeared in Kansas City, Mo. in 1935 in the toy department at Kline’s Department Store, one of the many department stores located within the downtown shopping district. At Kline’s the princess wore an elaborate gown complete with magic wand. Each child would share their Christmas wishes, get their photo taken with the princess and as a treat for the child, the Princess would wave her magical wand and a small gift would slide down a chute. Kline’s Fairy Princess delighted children for as many as 30 years until the closing of Kline’s in the 1970’s. Twenty years ago, The Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall revived the Fairy Princess tradition.

Henry and the Fairy Princess, someday he will wish he sat closer!

That night we crowded into one vehicle and went on a tour of Christmas lights.
