Making gingerbread houses has become one of our most fun traditions at Christmas time.
Each grandchild gets their own house…parents are allowed to help…and there are no restrictions…be as creative as you want AND eat as much candy as you can! I have used the same Gingerbread House Recipe (.doc format) or Gingerbread House Recipe (.pdf format) for the gingerbread for over 3o years (it first appeared in Crafts magazine November 1982)
Gingerbread Houses

Our Christmas this year was wonderful but had some bumps along the way; a 911 call and trip to hospital for Caroline, trip to ER Christmas Eve and emergency surgery the day after Christmas for Becca H. and we had an early Christmas for B.J., Jenn and Jack since we had to share them this year and we had to say goodbye on Christmas Eve day as they left to visit sunny California.
But we did make our annual gingerbread houses. Years ago I found a recipe for gingerbread houses that I have used for years and years.Gingerbread House recipe (.doc format) or Gingerbread House recipe (pdf format).
And painted some ornaments:
