Temple Square in the springtime! No words can describe the beauty of temple square and it’s glorious landscaping and colorful flowers.  But it took my breath away with all the blooming flowers; tulips, daffodils, and crocus’.  I was absolutely mesmerized by some of the tulips and daffodils…they had 5-6 blooms on one stem.  Each stem was like a bouquet of tulips or daffodils…gorgeous!!!  Say no more a picture is worth  a thousand words…

Springtime glory blooms around the Salt Lake City Temple!

We also visited the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, near the Salt Lake temple.

Easter!

April 4, 2013 by shelley

Easter came early this year, the last Sunday in March. And to think it was just a week ago we were shoveling almost a foot of snow. Spring is much later this year and I was not able to use any flowers from my yard, the forsythia has not even bloomed yet.  But I still had my Easter flower centerpiece on the table.

Easter table is set with deseret rose place settings, accented with a green charger, pink handled fiesta ware flatware.

Each place has its own carrot cake in a flower pot, and new this year a yellow chocolate duck.

Even though the Bunny Bread from Great Harvest Bread is delicious, no one can bring themselves to take a knife and slice into the bunny.

Another tradition is chick cupcakes.

Education Week at Brigham Young University…

August 31, 2012 by shelley

We attended Education Week at Brigham Young University. We love it and have attended for years. This year was the 90th year of Education Week.
It was held August 13 to 17 in Provo, Utah, and featured more than 1,000 classes presented by BYU faculty members, seminary and institute instructors, and other professionals. Class subjects included education, family relations, genealogy, health, history, marriage, religion, and science

This year’s theme, taken from Proverbs 29:18, is, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

As we drove toward Provo, we could see smoke from all the wildfires that have burned this year.

I have always loved the Brigham Young University Campus because it is so beautiful, the grounds are impeccable and the flowers incredible. But the backdrop of the mountains is something beyond description.

Palo Alto Mall

May 20, 2012 by shelley

The Palo Alto Mall is a fun place to spend some time. From the great stores (Nordstrom, Apple, Sony, Brooks Brothers and many many more) to the restaurants (Mac’s Opera House and the new one we tried Yucca de Lac) to the gorgeous flowers. And not to forget the perfect weather it is a great way to spend some time together!

Flowers in November

November 25, 2011 by shelley

It was November, the Palo Alto Mall had its Christmas tree up, but I really enjoyed the dahlia’s blooming around the mall. One was larger than Bob’s head. Baby Jack was born at the Stanford Hospital and we would walk across the street to the mall and get food. We visited Max’s Opera Cafe several times during our sojourn.
