Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Eve preparations…

February 16, 2013 by shelley

Christmas Eve dinner was a little more low key this year.  Since there were people with colds we used paper plates and throw away utensils to try and prevent the spread of germs.  B.J. and Jenn were still trying to get to Kansas City but were keeping us updated on their progress.   Miriam delayed her arrival, but Andrea and her children came to enjoy our traditional steak and shrimp Christmas Eve dinner.

Becca and Henry got cookies and milk ready for Santa and they put out some food for the reindeer…

Time for more cookies!

January 10, 2012 by shelley

As if we hadn’t had enough cookies, kringles, cinnamon rolls, chocolates, fudge, etc we decided we had to make some more cookies. No Bake cookies this time.  We also enjoyed a visit from ballerina Caitlin Cooney Mack, friend of Jen’s and the family.  We have loved her ever since she moved to Kansas City.

Christmas Eve

January 9, 2012 by shelley

Christmas Eve, we hang the stockings, re-enact the nativity, put out cookies for Santa, and oatmeal and carrots for the reindeer.

And more cookies…

January 9, 2012 by shelley

At Christmas time there is no such thing as too many cookies.  So we made some lemon ginger cookies.  Absolutely scrumptious, they are like soft gingersnap cookies.  There weren’t any left the next morning.  We also made some “Christmasy” chocolate dipped pretzels!

Family Home Evening with the Bennions and a live nativity!

January 8, 2012 by shelley

Family Home Evening, Monday night, was cookie baking and decorating with the Bennions!  To top off the evening we acted out the nativity in full costume (Jennifer’s Christmas present to me.)  Everyone had a part even if it was just a cow or donkey.  Baby Jack was of course baby Jesus.  B.J. filled in for Joseph and Jenn was Mary.  The cookies were sugar cookies with lots of frosting and sprinkles.

Our evening started with pizza from a new pizza place in Fairway, Pizza 51 West.

They had a 26″ pizza, which made baby Jack look small.
