Beehive activity.

August 9, 2011 by shelley

Recently I got to do an activity with the Beehives (ages 12 and 13 years old) in our ward (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). I decided to have them do a dried flower picture, preserving a beautiful flower to enjoy always. The pictures become a work of art. I gathered together a variety of pressed flowers (some from my garden and some I had from previous projects-purchased on-line). I pre-cut ivory paper, size 3″ x 5″. The ivory paper was trimmed with edging scissors to give edges some interest. The ivory paper was then mounted on mat board pre-cut to the size to fit in a 4 x 6 frame. The girls glued the flowers onto the ivory paper (which was glued on the mat board) in the design of their choice. Sometimes the flowers were so tiny, tweezers had to be used to place the flower in the right place. Each work of art was as unique as the young woman that created it and definitely an object of beauty. The young women seemed to enjoy the activity and as you can see they did a beautiful job.
