To celebrate pioneers and the pioneer heritage there is nothing better than going to where it all happened and be in Utah on July 24th for all the pioneer celebrations! No state comes close to celebrating its heritage like Utah; parades, fireworks, races, rodeos, beauty pageants and royalty, heritage park celebrations, handcart days (Bountiful) and you could go on and on…
Handcart Days in Bountiful
Handcart Days in Bountiful are just about as “Americana-ish” home town America as you can get!!! For the parade hundreds line the sides of main street to watch local floats, the high school marching band, veterans, army vehicles and boy scouts march by. It is just like the good old days of small parades in every small town in America, right down to the parade participants throwing handful after handful of candy into the crowds lining each side of the street and have dozens of children scampering after it. When was the last time you remember that happening?
Handcart Days in Bountiful are celebrated right before all the big celebrations in Salt Lake City with activities in the park, races, fireworks, a chuckwagon breakfast and a parade down main street in Bountiful (there are lots of other celebrations being held in other towns all over Utah-Pioneer Day is a really big deal in Utah!).
